PLEASE BRING LIGHTS - We aim to get back before dark but sometimes lights maybe needed near end of ride.

We are a friendly bunch of cyclists that meet all year in Upminster. Some members often can't do whole ride and turn back at 11's - you can too if you want. Join us every week or once - it's up to you!! We are always keen to Welcome new people to our group.

A member  in SEG (South East Group) .. Essex CTC is thinking of organising a trip to this cycle touring festival in france if you are interested please read through below and reply to Ron Snape at snape@cix.co.uk
If people were interested cheap group transport and accommodation could be organised.

International Federal week touring
From 2 to 9 August 2015 Since 1927, the beginning of August, cyclists from around the world come together to discover the beauties and charms of a region of France. This event, colorful, take up residence in Albi in 2015.
This is the largest gathering of cyclists in Europe, where 15,000 participants are expected. These bikers will roll on dozens of circuits road or mountain bike and discover the Tarn. About 2,000 volunteers will be ready to welcome them to your family and enjoy this tourist exploring the area.

2014 David Doo Photographic Prize - deadline 20th Oct
Named in honour of the late Chelmsford member, who was also a keen photographer.
Cycling and photography are complementary hobbies, as the frequent use of cameras on tours and Sunday rides amply demonstrates. Our beautiful countryside and the camaraderie of wheelmanship are natural photographic subjects.
The competition is open to all Essex CTC members and there is no entry fee. 
What you submit is entirely up to you - the competition brief is to celebrate cycling in any form. We'll publish the entries on the Essex Cycling website, and your efforts will be judged by impartial photographic professionals.
The winner, whose name will grace an Annual Challenge trophy, will be announced at the Essex CTC AGM on Saturday 15th November 2014. There will also be a small trophy to keep.
ENTRIES.  Photographs should be submitted in hard copy and sized 7 X 5 or 6 X 4. Please also submit a digital copy so that we can post photographs on the CTC web site. Entries are limited to one photograph per person. Entries open on 1st September 2014 and close on 20th October 2014. Please forward your prints to Lynda Collins 142 Hullbridge Road, South Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford, CM3 5LL.   or Email to Stephen with your details - email on front page of this site... and i will get them printed

Met Police - Exchanging Places - Bike safety film
In the film, an experienced lorry driver and a regular cyclist exchange places and discuss their thoughts. It also offers guidance and clearly demonstrates correct cycling, driving and pedestrian behaviour to ensure
safer journeys and avoid collisions.

CTC launch iPhone 'Crash Kit' app

CTC, the national cycling charity, has launched an iPhone app to make it simpler to record vital details if you are involved in a cycling incident. Crashes rarely happen, but CTC's new kit is there for you, just in case.
